At the Crossroads of Western Canada’s Economic Heartland

The West Central region of Saskatchewan covers an area of 26,500 square kilometers (10,200 mi2). The region is rich in oil and gas deposits as well as quality farm and ranch land. It was originally settled in the early 1900s by farmers and ranchers taking advantage of the vast natural resources.

The population of 27,700 is spread throughout the region’s 34 towns, villages, and 28 rural municipalities. There are 6 communities of over 1000 people. The largest, Kindersley, has a population of 5,000. Other main trading centres in the region are Biggar, Rosetown, Macklin, Kerrobert, and Eston.

The region is strategically located along the Saskatchewan/Alberta border at the crossroads of the major cities of both Saskatchewan and Alberta. Its boundaries are all within 50-200 miles of Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, and Saskatoon.

West Central boasts a quality lifestyle combining good incomes, low cost of living with strong education, healthcare, recreation, and other amenities. It has one of the lowest crime rates in the country.

Oil reserves now estimated in the billions are generating new excitement and provide for an even more optimistic outlook and business opportunities.

The opportunities for business development are further enhanced by the reasonable cost of doing business, the positive living environment, and the benefit of a labour force that is famous for its rural work ethic.
